ロードトリップ初日は、給油とトイレ休憩を1回だけ挟んで、ほぼノンストップでサンタモニカへ到着！到着した頃には青空が広がり、ホリデーシーズンということもあって、多くの人が思い思いのスタイルで休日を楽しんでいました。
こちらに来て感心するのは、人目を気にしすぎず、自分の人生を楽しむ姿。もちろん、他人を不快にさせないマナーは大切ですが、「自分らしく生きる」ということの素晴らしさを学んでいます。
そんなことを感じながら、到着してまず向かったのが、サンタモニカピアにあるシーフードレストラン「The Albright」です！
The Albrightについて
The Albrightは、サンタモニカピアを象徴する家族経営のシーフードレストラン。1977年に「SM Pier Seafood」として創業し、現在はユニー＆グレッグ・モレナ夫妻が経営されています。オリジナルの雰囲気を大切にしながら、モダンでリラックスできる空間に改装されているのも魅力です。

今回のお目当ては…ロブスターロール！
到着時間が読めなかったので予約はしていませんでしたが、休日の13時ごろでもほぼ待たずに入れました。店内は常に満席状態でしたが、回転が早いようでした。

- ロブスターロール ($24.95)
- ニューイングランドクラムチャウダー（ボウルサイズ） ($8.95)
- シュリンプ＆チップス ($15.95)
ロブスターロールは小ぶりながら、バターがしっかり染み込んだパンとプリプリのロブスターが絶品！ニューイングランドクラムチャウダーは、ボウルサイズが予想以上のボリュームで、家族4人でシェアしてちょうど良い量でした。シュリンプ＆チップスもサクサクの衣とジューシーなエビが最高でした✨。
最高のロケーションでランチタイム
テラス席からは海と遊園地が一望でき、雰囲気が抜群。お天気にも恵まれて、特別な時間を過ごすことができました。価格もお手頃で、子連れでも気軽に立ち寄れるレストランです。

Seafood Lunch at The Albright!
Day 1 of Our Road Trip (Bay Area to San Diego)
Our road trip began with almost non-stop driving, with just one gas and restroom break, until we finally arrived in Santa Monica! The weather was perfect, and being the holiday season, the area was buzzing with people enjoying their day in their own unique ways.
One thing I’ve come to admire since moving here is how people in America embrace life without worrying too much about what others think. Of course, respecting others and maintaining good manners are important, but it’s inspiring to see people simply enjoying themselves and living authentically.
With that thought in mind, our first stop in Santa Monica was The Albright, a seafood restaurant located right on the iconic Santa Monica Pier!
About The Albright
The Albright is a family-owned seafood restaurant that has been a staple on the Santa Monica Pier since 1977, originally known as “SM Pier Seafood.” Today, it is run by Yunnie and Greg Morena, who have modernized the space while maintaining its original charm. The restaurant offers a relaxed and casual seaside atmosphere that perfectly complements the pier’s vibe.

Our Must-Have Dish: The Lobster Roll
Since we couldn’t predict our exact arrival time, we didn’t make a reservation. However, even at around 1:00 PM on a busy holiday, we were seated almost immediately, which was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant was nearly full throughout our visit, but the service was efficient.
Here’s what we ordered:
- Lobster Roll ($24.95)
- New England Clam Chowder (Bowl) ($8.95)
- Shrimp & Chips ($15.95)
The lobster roll, though on the smaller side, was delightful! The buttery toasted bun paired perfectly with the tender, juicy lobster meat. The New England clam chowder came in a surprisingly large bowl, enough for the four of us to share. Lastly, the shrimp & chips were crispy, fresh, and absolutely delicious.
Amazing Views with Great Food
We opted for a table on the terrace, where we enjoyed stunning views of the ocean and the amusement park on the pier. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the sunny weather made it even more enjoyable. With its affordable prices and welcoming vibe, The Albright is a perfect spot for a family-friendly lunch.
It turned out to be the ideal start to our road trip, and we’re so glad we chose this restaurant! If you ever visit Santa Monica, I highly recommend stopping by The Albright for some fresh seafood and a relaxing time by the sea.
